We as youth ministry leaders care about the faith and future of the next generation.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why as a ministry, we must take intentional steps to equip, empower, and engage every parent everywhere. Because the truth is . . .<\/p>\n

If you care about a teen\u2019s future one day, it means you have to care about their family right now.<\/p>\n

To take your ministry to the next level, you must engage parents.<\/p>\n

You must engage not just the ones who show up at church on a Sunday morning, but also the parents receiving a difficult diagnosis or the ones looking for a counselor for their teenager.<\/p>\n

Every parent, everywhere\u2014even if they’re doing some of those things on a Sunday morning instead of going to church.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s at stake if we don\u2019t engage parents?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As ministry leaders, our role has a large impact on the families and students in our community. That\u2019s why engaging parents is so crucial. Because if we don\u2019t get this right, there\u2019s a lot at stake.<\/p>\n

Parents\u2019 trust in the church is at stake.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Parents trust the church to provide guidance on having faith conversations at home. But if we don\u2019t engage parents, they will start to feel unsupported by the church and our ministries. As a result, trust is lost, and these important conversations with their kids don\u2019t happen.<\/p>\n

In order to influence the teens in our community, we must understand what they are going through. The best way to gain this understanding is through engaging with the parents of our students – the ones who are with them every single day. If we don\u2019t, the church will grow in judgmentalism towards parents who are not attending our weekly programming, which will limit students\u2019 everyday faith.<\/p>\n
